Alkaline Water- pH and ORP
Alkaline Water - pH and ORP
ORP = Oxidation Reduction Potential
Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) is a measurement of the degree to which a substance is capable of oxidizing another substance. An ORP measurement can range from +1000 (highly oxidizing) to -1000 (high antioxidant).
What is Positive ORP?
A positive ORP indicates that the substance is an oxidizer (Free Radical). The higher the positive measurement, the stronger the oxidizing strength. (+ORP = Oxidation = Free Radicals = Cellular Decay)
What is Negative ORP?
A negative ORP indicates that the substance is an antioxidant. The higher the negative charge is, the more antioxidants are present in the liquid. (-ORP = Antioxidant = Eliminates Free Radicals = Cellular Protection)
- Any time we eat or drink a substance with an; we increase the Free Radicals and oxidation of our body.
- The pace at which our body oxidizes is directly related to our diet and other substances we put in it. Our immediate environment and stress also contributes to the oxidation of the body.
- Genetics DOES NOT determine the rate of aging and oxidation of the body.
- Alkaline Ionized Water has a high negative ORP (Anti-oxidant), offsetting the positive ORP of our oxidizing, aging body. You can counteract the oxidation and aging process by consuming Alkaline “antioxidant” Water.
- Alkaline Ionized Water has one of the highest levels of negative ORP (Anti-oxidant) available. Drinking alkaline water helps to offsetting the positive ORP (Free Radical) of many diets by neutralizing the free radicals and slowing the oxidation process.
- An alkaline water ionizer will convert your tap water into one of the most powerful antioxidants available. With a high quality water ionizer, you can even achieve ORP levels of -800*.
Most adults should be drinking alkaline water with a pH level at around 9.5.
pH is the measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. First introduced by Danish chemist S. P. L. Sørensen in 1909, pH stands for "power of hydrogen."
- Pure water at 25 °C has an equal concentration of dissolved hydrogen ions (H+) and hydroxide ions (OH-) and is considered "neutral."
- pH measures the concentration of hydrogen and hydroxide ions on a scale from 0 to 14, with 7.0 considered neutral.
- Solutions with a pH level below 7.0 are acids.
- Solutions with a pH level above 7 are bases (alkaline).
The healthy human body contains both acids and bases. The organs maintain the pH of arterial blood between 7.35 and 7.45. To counteract the amount of acids consumed by eating, drinking, and breathing, the body will take alkaline substances from body parts, such as bone. By drinking alkaline water, you are able to counteract the intake of acids and help the body regulate its pH in a more healthy way.
So when will you think about drinking alkaline pH and ORP Water?
